Main tasks:

  • Fire fighting (Must be fit for BA, and meet the requirements of the Dounreay Fire and Rescue Service functional (DFARS) assessment)
  • Functional assessment: BA trial in smoke filled room, ladder climbing and leg lock, pump carry (4 person 100kg), ladder carry (4 person x 100 kg))
  • Two man stretcher lift
  • Annual Chester step
  • Shift work
  • Maintenance, inspection, test, schedule (MITS) check
  • Line rescue
  • Control room duties
  • Service fire extinguishers
  • Provision of training and information
  • Station and vehicle cleaning
  • All ambulance duties
  • Driving (LGV Group 2 DVLA Standard): additionally, if driving in DFARS must, as a minimum, be fit to meet functional requirements in assessment above)
  • Patient handling
  • You must be able to rapidly evacuate the criticality zone, if necessary, without assistance or causing a delay to others
  • Ambulance technicians are back up BA crew so must also be fit for full firefighter role
