Main tasks:

  • Walking outside and inside buildings usually carrying instruments
  • Monitoring for contamination
  • Taking swabs for loose contamination
  • Monitoring for radiation
  • Monitoring for neutron radiation
  • Manual handling of equipment
  • Change air samples and duct samples in all areas of site
  • Site emergency duties including going offsite
  • Working at height
  • Climbing ladders
  • Confined space working
  • Working in radiological area
  • Working with different groups of employees
  • Lone working
  • Working with foul drains and milliscreens
  • Handwriting reports
  • Use of computers
  • Housekeeping duties
  • You must be able to rapidly evacuation the criticality zone, if necessary, without assistance or causing a delay to others

Equipment:

All employees are fully trained in the use of equipment required.

  • Use of rate meter and probe (one in each hand)
  • Use of Radiation dose rate meter (one hand)
  • Use of neutron monitor (11Kg)
  • Use of airline suits
  • Use of dust masks
  • Use of positive powered respirators
  • Use of negative powered respirators
  • Use of monitor extension stick
  • DSE equipment
  • In site emergency surveyors could drive vehicle (van) and towing and setting up of EMS trailer

  • Working inside and outside in all weather conditions
  • Working with a range of chemical hazards
  • Working with a range of dust hazards
  • Working with a range of biohazards
  • Working with electrical hazards
  • Asbestos work
  • Working near moving vehicles/cranes
  • You must be able to rapidly evacuate the criticality zone, if necessary, without assistance or causing a delay to others
